In April, together with the Youth Initiative for Human Rights - Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, we organized a study trip to Ahmići and Trusina "Young people remember the forgotten" on the eve of the 30th anniversary of war crimes committed in these places in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where we met with representatives of victims' associations and religious communities to discuss the crimes committed in April 1993 and how crimes committed 30 years ago affect society today.
A participant of the trip and a member of our activist network, Dora Tomljanovic directed the one-minute film "Moment of silence" (edited by Iva Trogrančić) during the trip, which was selected at the Croatian One-Minute Film Festival in Požega for the official grand prix and listed among the best 60 films out of over 400 one-minute films submitted.
We quote the statement of the author Dora Tomljanović:
"The film shows footages from Ahmići and an audio recording of Dragica Tomić, a witness to the crime in Trusina. The title of the film symbolizes the sole memory of the victims, which was further emphasized at the very end of the film with a list of victims who lost their lives that day. The intention is that those who look at it will be interested enough to explore something more about it and to make their own moral judgment."
We are proud that our activists and participants continue to think how to critically approach dominant narratives and find new approaches to the topics we deal with!
