To reach a larger number of young people in an interesting and interactive way, bringing them closer to events, individuals, and facts related to the war in Croatia and the period immediately afterward, and to inform and further educate them about peace activism, the individual contributions of certain fellow citizens in advocating for peace during the war, as well as important dates and anniversaries not widely known to the general public, such as the completion of the peaceful reintegration of Croatian Danube region, we decided to organize a pub quiz on this topic!
Knowledge quizzes are a popular television format followed by a large number of people, and pub quizzes, which have gained great popularity in the last decade, are regularly held in an increasing number of cafes. We had the opportunity to witness this ourselves last Tuesday (5th December) because at our quiz "War Nineties," held in the space of the Club of Students of the Faculty of Philosophy (KSFF), as many as 26 people participated! Such a good turnout resulted in placing two out of a total of seven teams directly at the bar, which is a valuable indicator of significant interest in a topic that is not one of those commonly encountered by quiz enthusiasts, such as general knowledge or those related to popular culture.
The quiz was conceived and hosted by the program officer Senna Šimek, and the teams, in a good atmosphere that lasted almost 2 hours through three rounds, provided their answers to a total of 43 questions. Each round consisted of 9 unrelated questions, followed by 5 belonging to a specific category: 1st round - What is written about war, 2nd round - From war to business, and 3rd round - Well, I said. Although patiently waiting in reserve were questions prepared for a tiebreaker, they were not needed because the team 'The State of Slovenes, Croats, and Serbs' surpassed other teams with their enviable knowledge and secured the first place in the first edition of the quiz "War Nineties."
