We believe it is crucial for young generations who were not directly affected by war to learn about the historical and court established facts as well as to develop critical thinking and their own opinion of the past wars. We believe that the young generation is crucial in the process of reconciliation. Representatives of the Youth Initiative for Human Rights who received training from the ICTY Registry Liason Officer held presentations in highschools in Zagreb, Osijek, Slavonski Brod, Đakovo, Gospić, Beli Manastir, Glina, Zadar, Požega and Dubrovnik where they introduced the students to the functioning of the ICTY, the reasons for its establishments, its accomplishments and presented the verdicts and facts of the cases trialed in front of the ICTY. Each presentation was followed by a discussion and students questions. This project is a part of Youth Initiative for Human Rights Justice Program with an overall aim of preventing recurrence of wars from the 90s.
